J'espère que vous allez bien, je vous retrouve aujourd'hui avec la chronique d'un roman de Meg Harding. C'est le premier roman de cette auteure que je lis et je dois avouer que j'aime beaucoup son style. Sans plus attendre, couverture et résumé:
Jaden Matthews n'a jamais connu son père ou la famille de son père, mais il est sur le point de découvrir ce que ça fait d'avoir des frères et sœurs. Après le décès de sa grand-mère, il découvre qu'il a trois demi-frères et une partie de la propriété d'une salle de gym. A Serenity, en Floride. Sa vie à New York vient de prendre un mauvais tournant, donc peut-être que ce sont les vacances dont il a besoin pour remettre les choses sur la bonne voie.
Chase Michaels a perdu son avenir dans un accident de voiture il y a près de dix ans, et il s'en est fait un autre à Serenity. Et celà signifie de ne pas s'impliquer émotionnellement avec ses rencontres âsagères. Mais Jaden fait fuir son bon sens et réagir ses instincts. Il aura droit à un mois avec l'homme qui lui donnera envie de croire en l'amour.

FR- Alors alors.. alors j'ai beaucoup aimé. Je ne m'attendais pas à être autant prise par l'histoire et pourtant dès les premières pages, j'ai été complètement attirée par l'intrigue. On suit principalement Jaden, alors qu'il est à un carrefour de sa vie après avoir perdu son boulot et son mari. N'ayant plus rien à perdre, il décide de se rendre à Serenity où sa grand mère paternelle vient de décéder lui laissant un quart des parts dans un gymnase à partager avec ses trois demi frères dont il n'a jamais entendu parler.
J'ai beaucoup aimé la façon dont l'auteur va prendre son temps pour poser l'histoire. On sent bien que Jaden est vraiment paumé et cette lenteur nous permet de bien cerner le personnage et d'installer aussi bien ses trois frères que le personnage de Chase.
Chase est le meilleur ami des frères de Jaden et c'est également lui qui va aider Jaden à y voir plus clair, que ce soit dans sa relation avec ses frères ou dans sa vie en général.
J'ai particulièrement aimé suivre le cheminement de Jaden , son chemin de vie, pour devenir enfin lui même et non plus celui que les autres aimeraient qu'il soit. L'auteur va vraiment prendre le temps de faire réfléchir Jaden et on va l'accompagner dans sa réflexion et son changement.
Face à lui, ses trois frères, aussi différents qu’intéressant vont tout faire pour le convaincre qu'il fait parti de leur famille sans jamais le brusquer et c'était vraiment bien écrit.
La romance entre Chase et Jaden prend également son temps et à part quelques petits écueils (les ciseaux, encore et toujours^^) les scenes de sexes sont hot à souhait.
La fin cependant m'a laissée un peu sur ma fin (j'aurai aimé avoir un peu plus de Chase et Jaden "après") mais j'ai passé un excellent moment en lisant ce roman. Je vous le conseille fortement.
ENG- So well well well... well I liked it very much. I did not expect to be so taken by the story and yet from the very first pages I was completely drawn to the plot.
We mainly follow Jaden, while he is at a crossroads of his life after losing his job and his husband. Having no more to lose, he decides to go to Serenity where his grandmother has just passed away leaving him a quarter of the shares in a gym to share with his three half brothers whom he has never heard of.
I really liked the way the author take her time to tell us the story. We can see that Jaden is really lost and this slowness allows us to define the character and install both his three brothers and Chase.
Chase is the best friend of Jaden's brothers and it is also the one who will help Jaden to see more clearly, whether in his relationship with his brothers or in his life in general.
I particularly liked to follow Jaden's path , his journey, to finaly become himself and no longer the one that others would like him to be. The author really take the time to make Jaden think and we will accompany him in his reflection and change.
Faced with him, his three brothers, as different as interesting, will do everything to convince him that he is part of their family without ever rushing it and it was really well written.
The romance between Chase and Jaden also takes its time and apart from some small pitfalls (the scissors, again and again ^^) the sexe scenes are hot as hell.
The end however left me a bit on my end (I would have liked to have a little more Chase and Jaden "after") but I had a great time reading this novel. I highly recommend it to you.

The school year came to an end about the time the boys and I had been living at the lake for almost a month. The transition had been mostly smooth, and Cam and I found we worked very well as a team. For the first couple weeks, I treated our living there as if we were guests. But, Cam sat me down for the first of many chats.
“Kade, this isn’t a bed and breakfast and you aren’t a guest in my home. No more asking if it’s okay if the boys take a bath or if they can have a snack. This is our home. I want you and the boys to be comfortable.” Cam’s words weren’t harsh, but I knew he’d meant what he said.

What I wished I had prepared for a little more was the reaction of local friends to my new living arrangement.
Either I hadn’t been listening or the rumor mill kept itself pretty hush-hush. But, the night of Cam’s annual “Welcome to Summer” bonfire, I heard more than I cared to.
After checking on the boys and the local neighborhood kids to make sure they weren’t at the water by themselves or they had a trusted adult with them, I grabbed a beer and headed toward the bonfire to shoot the shit with some long-time buddies.
“He found himself a fuck buddy pretty quickly.” Craig’s words and the resulting laughs echoed in my ears.
“Yeah, husband’s barely cold in the ground before he’s getting his hands on another dick. Guess he couldn’t stand not having a hard one to ride.” A man I barely recognized agreed and more laughter abounded.
“Never thought I’d see Kaden Ramsey turnin’ gay. Must be why that wife of his left. Needed to find a real man, not a butt-fucker.” Craig’s words registered and sent hot anger straight through my core. I downed my beer as the next comment was made, but I’d already made up my mind what I was going to do.
“I mean, I ain’t gonna judge. If Ramsey wants to pack some fudge, it aint’s hurtin’ me none,” Jared, a man I’d considered a decent friend and golf partner, chimed in. “I’m just sayin’, the whole gay thing ain’t my thing, man. Why can’t they just be friends? And what’s it doing to their boys? Don’t seem right to me.”
“Gentlemen,” I spoke from behind them and felt a satisfied spark travel through me when they all turned to face me, their faces pale with fear. “You know what I don’t think is right?” I spoke, using Jared’s words. “I don’t think it’s right that a man would lose the love of his life to cancer. I don’t think it’s right that two young boys would lose their father. I don’t think it’s right that a woman would cheat on her husband and leave her two sons without so much as a second thought.”
I had stepped closer and closer while I spoke. Lowering my voice so as not to call attention to myself, I continued, “I also don’t think it’s right that local friends and neighbors, those who have offered their support through a rough time, would speak ill of men who are supposedly their buddies.” I spit on the ground before running my hand along my jaw as if I was thinking. “In fact, I’d call it downright rude that any man worth his salt would show up for free food and free drinks and sit around a fire spreading more gossip than any quilting bee ever hoped to have.”
None of the men spoke, all of them had found something very interesting to study on the ground. I wasn’t wasting my time, or the evening’s celebrations, on the idiots any longer than I had to.
“I’ll leave you boys with one more thought. Any person, man or woman, would be lucky to have Cam in their life. What’s more, I consider myself damn lucky that Cam and I are friends and work so well together as a team. We’re there for each other and, most importantly, we’re there for our sons. If you all can’t accept that, maybe you should keep your homophobic asses home.”
I shook my head in disgust before walking away. I stopped abruptly when I almost ran over Cam. I glanced at his face to see how much he had heard. Cam’s features were guarded, closed off, so I simply nodded and continued on my way.
